A note from the editor...
If you have come to a point in your spiritual
life where
you'd like to be baptized, come to our Baptism
Class this Sunday at 11 am in Room M-207. For
more
information, contact
Lorraine Rothenburg.
Arts Camp is set for June 14-18. We're
already planning for this
summer's camp for children entering
first through sixth grade. If you'd like to be
involved as a teacher, assistant, small group
shepherd, child caregiver, or help in any
other way,
please contact Colleen, colleen.gray@oakhills.org,
or
Sharon, sharon.richards@oakhills.org.
Stop by the
Welcome Center today for volunteer
applications and
registration forms.
Our Easter Egg Hunt and BBQ are scheduled for the
Saturday
before Easter. We need individually wrapped
candy
(NO nuts or peanut butter,
please), as well as plastic eggs. Candy
must be able to fit inside a plastic egg.
Please bring your
donations to the Welcome Center this
Sunday.
We are registering for the Women's Retreat to
be held April 30-May 2. Stop by the
Spotlight Booth this Sunday for more information.
As a church, we are memorizing Matthew 5:13-16.

One of my favorite things to do when I visit
someone's house is check out their fridge.
Not because I'm hungry and want to scope out
what kinds of yummy foods are inside it.
Rather, I like to look at the outside of the
fridge. What kinds of things are stuck on
the front? You can tell a lot about the
people who live in a house by what's posted
on their fridge (or not!). Magnets
from every place visited on vacation.
Business cards for those people we need to
remember to call. I have friends who have
covered every square inch of the front of
theirs with photographs. Pictures of friends
and family; people they love. These friends
are absolutely "people" people. Some fridges
proudly display children's artwork,
"masterpieces" hung proudly in the home
gallery also known as the GE Profile
Refrigerator (with Ice Maker). Others have
the alphabet splashed across the door, with
brightly colored magnet letters stuck right
at "kids' level." Del Taco coupons and
Garbage Day reminders (is this blue can or
green can week?) along with pictures of the
Compassion child we support from another
country and missionaries we pray for.
Childrens' chore charts might also grace the
fridge front, with star stickers and check
marks hinting at jobs accomplished (or
not!). And of course, there are those
reminders of important events coming up that
we want to participate in. Calendars, wedding
invitations and invites to baby showers and
jewelry parties get stuck up there to make
sure we remember to show up where we're
supposed to be.
Well, whatever is on your fridge, I hope
you'll consider printing this little article
and posting it there as a reminder of a
great way to spend the next week. We're about
to enter Holy Week, the last week of the
Lenten season, commemorating the last week of
the life of Christ between His triumphal
entry into Jerusalem to His arrest,
crucifixion and resurrection. We have some
great opportunities available, designed to
help us remember, reflect and celebrate the
events of this special week and what they
mean to our lives with God.
Here are our Holy Week opportunities. Hope to
see you there!
Palm Sunday - this Sunday, the 28th with
services at 9 and 11 am; celebrating the
triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - join our
Pastors
for prayer and reflection from 7-7:30 am in
our upstairs Prayer Room
Maundy Thursday - 7 pm - a service "in
the round" commemorating the Last Supper. We
will also enjoy the special music of Amy
Shreve, harpist and recording artist:
http://amyshreve.com/
Good Friday - noon - a reflective service
remembering the death of Jesus on the cross
Easter Eve - a family time of
celebration from 3-6 pm. Join us for our free
BBQ, Egg Hunt, live music and bounce houses.
Bring your family, friends and neighbors!
Easter Sunday - celebrate the
resurrection with us at our services at 9
and 11 am
Throughout Holy Week, our Prayer Room will
continue to be available during office hours
for your own time of personal prayer and
reflection. Reserve your time slot on the
whiteboard calendar outside the Prayer Room
door (upstairs).
Looking forward to celebrating the good news
with you on that Resurrection Day - He is
risen. He is risen, indeed!
